Visa Information

Visiting Indonesia to travel, for research purposes or shooting a feature film? Make sure to have all your itinerary ready, including your visa.

  1. Visa on Arrival (VOA)

    If you are a citizen of the following 63 countries,
    you are eligible to apply for a Visa on Arrival (VOA):

    • VOA fee is payable upon landing. USD$ 10 for a 7-day visa or USD$ 25 for a 30-day visa. VOA facility accepts cash only.
    • Passport must be valid for a minimum of six months from the date of entry to Indonesia.
    • Visitors must show onward or return tickets.
    • Maximum stay permitted is 30 days on VOA.
    • An extension on VOA is not generally approved, except in cases of natural disaster, illness or accident.
    • Extension can only be given upon the approval of Director General of Immigration of the Republic of Indonesia.
    • VOA extension fee is USD$ 20 per person/per day for up to 60- day overstay.
    • For a visitor staying more than the 60-day extension, a fine of Rp. 25,000,000 or a five-year prison sentence will be charged.
    • VOA facility is available on the following 14 airports and 23 seaports. Visitors must enter and exit through one of these “international gateways”:

  2. Visa-Free Short Visit Permit

    If you are a citizen and holding a valid passport of one of the following countries and territories, you are eligible for a Visa-Free short visit permit upon your arrival. Visa-Free short visit permit is valid for 30 days and cannot be extended:

    • Brunei Darussalam
    • Chile
    • Hong Kong SAR
    • Macau SAR
    • Malaysia
    • Morocco
    • Peru
    • Philippines
    • Thailand
    • Vietnam
    • Singapore
    • Passport must be valid for a minimum of six months from the date of entry to Indonesia.
    • Visitors must show onward or return tickets.
    • Visitors must enter and exit from the following 15 airports, 21 seaports or 1 overland port:

  3. What if I’m holding a passport that is not in the above list or I want to stay for more than 30 days?

    You are more than welcome to apply for a TOURIST VISA through the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence.

    Requirements:

    • Original passport, valid for more than 6 (six) months beyond the intended length of stay.
    • Completed Visa application Form.
    • 1 (one) most recent color passport size photograph.
    • Copy of confirmed round trip Airline ticket/ Electronic ticket.
    • Confirm with the embassy for fee and additional requirements.

  4. I’m planning to visit Indonesia for research purposes. What kind of Visa should I apply?

    Social cultural visa is granted upon visiting Indonesia to conduct socio-culture activities (such as family gathering, research and training program, social organizations).

  5. I have been assigned to work in Indonesia as an expatriate. What kind of Visa should I apply?

    You are eligible to apply for a working permit. Requirements for applying a working permit are:

    • Original passport valid for more than 6 (six) months for a single entry or 18 months for a multi entry beyond the intended length of stay.
    • Completed Visa application Form.
    • 1 (one) most recent color passport size photograph.
    • Letter of sponsor from the sending company mentioning the purpose of visit.
    • Letter of invitation from the host company in Indonesia.
    • Copy of round trip Flight Itinerary/Electronic Airline Ticket.

  6. I am amazed with the beauty of Indonesia and I want to shoot a feature film in Indonesia. What are the requirements?

    Indonesia’s Department of Foreign Affairs c.q. Directorate of Media and Information service in Jakarta governs all requests for film / video shooting in Indonesia. Application forms can be requested and submitted to your nearest Indonesian embassy. The application should be made to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism c.q. the Directorate of Film.

    The following documents should be attached with your application form:

    • Curriculum Vitae of the applicant and crew members.
    • Purpose of production.
    • Date of the company or corporation.
    • List of crew members and their positions.
    • Letter of solvency from bank guarantors in Indonesia and in country of origin.
    • List of equipment accompanied with statements for re-exporting upon completion of the film production in Indonesia.
    • Shooting schedule and locations.
    • Synopsis/scenario.
    • Photocopy of passports.
