What’s green, loved by men and effort is needed to get it?

Submitted by Agustian Hermanto on October 13, 2009 – 9:40 pm Comments

If you say money, you’re not far from guessing the right answer. Although we all love money and effort is indeed needed to get it, I meant a different green that not a lot of people know.

And what is the answer? It is Cukang Taneuh, or more popularly known as the Green Canyon. The name “green canyon” is made popular in 1993 when some French tourists visited Cukang Taneuh. It is located 31 km south of Pangandaran and, unlike the steamy hot Grand Canyon in the USA, Green Canyon offers a refreshing and rejuvenating travel experience.

So what is this place exactly? Green Canyon is a narrow river waterway that is surrounded by two beautiful green hills. It is part of the Cijulang River that goes through a cave of stalactites and stalagmites.

Your exciting adventure will start when you hire a guide (recommended) and a boat at the Ciseureuh dock. As you approach the entrance of the cave, Palatar Waterfall will greet you with a splash of cool and refreshing drizzle of water. And as you venture forward, you will see yourself taken back in time to the prehistoric ages when all is in balance and unsoiled. An amazing natural pool is located not far from the waterfall and you are more than welcome to plunge in and swim.

For those of you, adventurers, who are always looking for a challenge and like to go the extra mile, Green Canyon offers extreme cave trekking adventures. The only way to get in is to crawl and sometimes you would need to jump on rock from side to side! Just simply ask your local guide for this exciting adventure.

This is one of the serene places where you become one with nature and realize the Earth’s beauty. At this moment, money becomes irrelevant and everything seems to be in balance and flows naturally.

Recommendation: Wear your bathing suit under your clothing and bring waterproof camera.
